The Sweatshop Sublime II

Bruce Robbins references Antonio Gramsci (86) who, according to Dr. Karl, was a Marxist.

Gramsci introduced the terms, "national-popular" and "international-popular."

Samuel Johnson:

"A decent provision for the poor is the true test of civilization."

Given the above Gramsci ideas, where does civilization begin and end?

What, if any, first world standards can be applied to the third world?

Just throwin' it out there.
